The Breath of Life.

The first thing we do when we enter the world is breath and it will be the last thing that we do before leaving. How many breaths do we take in between and what is the quality of those breaths?

Join Joyce Lively on November 28, 1-2:30pm, for a workshop in Pranayama . Prana means the vital life force in Sanskrit and yama means to gain control. During this 90 minute session Joyce will lead you through various prana techniques and understandings that she learned in India.

Pranayama can help you with your physical practice and more importantly, your meditative practice. Pranayama can be the gateway to your yogic fulfillment.

“There is one way of breathing that is shameful and constricted. Then, there's another way: a breath of love that takes you all the way to infinity.”

~ Rumi

Pranayama Workshop

Embrace Winter- Paint + Yoga

with Kelsey Erin
December 5th     12pm to 3:30pm

We will begin with a restful gentle flow and meditation with Kelsey, to encourage the slowing down of the season.  We have a tendency in the hustle and bustle of the holidays approaching, to ignore the natural rhythms of nature encouraging us to go inward.  This yoga practice will explore the gifts found inside of ourselves when we honour curiosity, and will inspire to ignite our creativity, joy and passion cultivated when we connect within these spaces.

We will share an afternoon snack, tea and connection, and then spend 2 hours with our lovely local artist, Kirstie.  She will guide us through an Embrace Winter paint project, where we can open up to the creative abilities, joy and passions we practiced on the mat.  This is an opportunity to come together in connection, embracing winter, our inner gifts, and each other.

Cost:  $50 + tax per participant

Calm Before Christmas

with Kelsey Erin
December 11th     5:30pm to 8pm

We will begin with a restorative yoga practice, set to relaxing Christmas music, as Kelsey shares a guided meditation in resting postures... leading us inward in preparation for Yoga Nidra. This will be the ultimate event for slowing down, and reconnecting with yourself and one another. Our evening will finish with tea and festive treats- a time to give ourselves the gift of peace this holiday season and connect in this spirit with our lovely community.

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It’s practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. The practice draws our attention inwards, and we learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where our body finds its natural state of equilibrium– the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness.Anyone can practice Yoga Nidra, but it has immense appeal for those who struggle to let go (I think many of us have ‘battled’ through meditation at times!). It also has immense value for those suffering from sleep deprivation, trauma, anxiety or depression (to any degree). It’s also perfect for those who have always been curious about the deep states of meditation they have perhaps read about or stumbled across themselves but have never been able to recreate.

Holiday Dream Workshop

with Kelsey Erin
December 12th     1pm to 3pm

We are dreaming into 2022... what do these final days of 2021 look like for you? How are you hoping this new year will unfold? Can we get intentional about this together?

Transitions in life – such as the New Year – awaken the human inclination for self-reflection. Any time we return to the eternal questions “Who am I?” and “How do I wish to live?”, is an auspicious time for yoga and spiritual inquiry.
On Sunday, December 12, from 1-3pm, we will spend time getting really specific about our dreams, setting inspiring intentions for our new year, and becoming truly aware of what we may need to leave behind in 2021. We are choosing this time in the season to create space and guidance for this, ensuring those who leave the workshop needing a little more time to reflect and prepare, have the days to do so… ensuring that by January 1, we are all ready for the most beautiful new beginning.

In this workshop, we will explore the power of Sankalpa or “Inspired Intention”. It is not just any intention; it is a vow of heartfelt desire and willful determination. Sankalpa is a statement of guidance from our Highest Self, revealed through listening to our inner wisdom. By allowing us to see clearly what we really seek, Sankalpa empowers the mind to move from intention to realization.

Within this 2 hour journey, expect to:
- Learn the teaching of Sankalpa and the four essential human desires
- Practice postures, breathing and meditation to support self-inquiry
- Experience a guided process of meditation, self-reflection and journaling to reveal your sankalpa
- Set an additional intention for the holiday season
- Practice courageous conscious choice making, aligning our actions with intentions
- Consider how to nurture our intentions daily
- Be part of a community of like-minded souls supporting one another to manifest our intentions
